HAUS SAY WHAT YOU SAY

Here at TMR, we’re no stranger to the rising Tottenham-based band HAUS and their optimistic, forward-thinking and eclectic alt-rock sound. We recently praised their single ‘Say What You Say’ for its “tuned-in maturity regarding the hypocrisy that appears in every aspect of life,” and now we have an arresting visual to go along with this mega track. Directed by Benjamin Smallwood, the video is a celebration of London in all its grey-skied, urbanised, multicultural and multilingual wonderment. The main focus of this appraisal? The city’s people. It’s a point of passion for the homegrown band who “wanted to capture London, and how eclectic it is as a place. All the different people, they're all just as important as the person next to them. There’s just so many stories contained in just one street, one market, one pub, one corner. So many varied backgrounds, millions of childhoods, adulthoods, all united in their communities, our community.” This beautiful sentiment is further glorified by a piece of spoken word from poet Cecilia Knapp, whose words run like “the hot and holy gold of tea” over the opening minutes of this characterful film. - HT
